GSK To Supply Provenge for Dendreon

Antigen pact to run through 2015

Dendreon has signed a development and supply agreement with GlaxoSmithKline for Provenge, its prostate cancer vaccine. According to a Reuters report, the pact covers commercial production and supply of the antigen used to manufacture Provenge.

The initial agreement runs through 2015 and includes an Dendreon option to request one or more two-year extensions, according to a regulatory filing. Dendreon has already placed an initial order for about $8.3 million of antigen, and delivery will commence in August 2011.

The vaccine treats prostate cancer by stimulating the body’s own immune system to attack malignant cells.
